Description

The Springbank 1998 Vintage is the inaugural release in the distillery’s new Vintage Series, replacing the beloved 25-year-old expression. Matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry casks—a mix of refill and first-fill—this limited edition bottling (1,500 bottles worldwide) is presented at 48.3% ABV. It is a whisky of depth, tension, and character, shaped by time, sherry wood, and the unmistakable Campbeltown soul.

Appearance

Deep amber with golden undertones, reflecting its long rest in richly seasoned sherry casks.

Aroma

An initial surge of earthy funk—wet oak, dunnage warehouse must, and sea-soaked wood—leads into layers of dark chocolate, hazelnuts, and dried cranberries. Subtle florals, soft spice, and a trace of antique leather emerge with time.

Palate

A robust and savory texture brings forth tobacco leaf, roasted nuts, and salted soil, followed by complex notes of lemon zest, black pepper, and herbal bitters. Mid-palate reveals a meaty, red wine warmth alongside fading fruitcake sweetness and sun-dried fig.

Finish
